Beautiful bird but a hunter on my deck on Cape Ann MA. 'Survival of the fittest' and all that but when this bird is around the 'little critters' are not safe. |
We are linking with: Saturday Critters. We love your comments, thanks, ^_^ |

Hello, wow that is a great visitor and sighting. I hope all your song birds disappeared for a bit. But, it is like you say survival of the fittest. Thanks for sharing your post. Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteWOW, that mighty hunter sure is something!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
ReplyDeleteThe thing to remember is that hawks are also hunted by larger birds. Once I saw a Bald Eagle that had caught and was eating a hawk.
He is a beauty and looks like he is alert! Great photo my friend! Happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteNature's ladder of critters. Survival, one thing. Wanton destruction? Quite another. YAM xx
Looking quite noble, too.
ReplyDeleteThat cycle of life!
ReplyDeleteI get it! It’s hard when visitors like this handsome raptor make you feel as if you’re tempting him to a bird buffet ... I remember that feeling from back when I fed birds (which I still miss doing, in spite of the occasional downside).
ReplyDeleteI bet you have an interesting list of birds that have stopped by on your deck. This looks like a juv red-tailed hawk to me.
ReplyDeleteWe don't always like to think about it, but even the meat eaters need to eat.
ReplyDeleteyep looks like a young red tail :)
